3 Year Anniversary of 2 ATK Lives Lost by another Driver Texting
This next week will be the anniversary of two good ATK employees who lost their lives when a 19 year old crossed the center line while texting and driving. I feel it is appropriate to post this video here in their memory and for all of us to wake up to this somewhat new road hazard. Today new harsh laws are on the Utah books for texting and driving.  The cost is way too high and never worth it.
This new video from Utah DOT should wake us all up to the very high cost of distracted driving. It has already impacted my decision. I hope it will yours too!  In Memory of Jim Furfaro and Keith Patrick O'Dell.

Classic Failed or Missed Inspections
One of our scheduled speakers for this year's up coming ASNT section meetings will be Stephen A. Anderson  CEO of Intertek APTECH. www.aptechtexas.com I attended one of his presentations in Houston 2 years ago.  It was very impressive.  One of the classic failed or missed inspections was the United Flight 232 in the late 80's that crash landed in Sioux City. See Video This and many more will be apart of his presentation.  We are looking forward to his presentation most likely on Feb. 16, 2010

Elon Musk and his own Space Program
Elon Musk is one amazing guy and/or just very lucky.  Born in 1971 in South Africa, lived in Canada for a while before coming in to the US.  He has a physics degree, the founder of Paypal, once sold off in 2004 he started his own space program.  He is also the CEO and founder of Tesla a very successful battery powered car manufacturer and designer.  Elon Musk has already put rockets into space and plans to put people into orbit commercially.

For our NDT people, he is looking to hire...

A tribute to the Space Shuttle Program
This is something worth posting here... A tribute to the Space Shuttle Program. It would be great if our ATK people could give us more details on the program when it will end how many years it has been going.  A side note: There is a tribute to the Space Shuttle from the Canadian band RUSH recorded in 1982.  They use actual audio recordings of mission control for the first Columbia shuttle flight.  It is one of my favorites.
